André Lichnerowicz was a noted French differential geometer and mathematical physicist of Polish descent.

Famous Pipe Smokers: Memphis, Tennessee, United States; My name is Joseph Cruse Johnson, I was born a block from William Faulkner's home in New Albany, MS and grew up 20 minutes north of Shelby Footes' family home in Greenville, MS. I started pipe smoking when I was 18 years old and 19 years later am still enjoying the briar. I spent many years with a fascination for those famous and infamous pipe smokers.
