Famous Pipe Smokers: Memphis, Tennessee, United States; Joseph Cruse Johnson is a Mississippi native whose life has been deeply intertwined with the state's rich literary heritage. Born in New Albany just a block from the home of William Faulkner and raised in Greenville near the family estate of Shelby Foote, Joseph was practically born into a world of storytelling and tradition. For nearly two decades, Joseph has been a dedicated enthusiast of the "briar," a passion he first discovered at the age of eighteen. This lifelong hobby evolved into a deep fascination with the famous and infamous figures who shared his love for pipe smoking.
